Assistant Coach departs for new opportunity
The South Adelaide Football Club advises that Assistant Coach Ben Hollands has accepted a position as Coach of the Wodonga Bulldogs in the Ovens & Murray Football League.
A new business opportunity has necessitated Ben and his family’s move back to Albury, and he was this week appointed to the role at Wodonga.
After being a decorated player at West Adelaide Ben joined the Panthers last year as midfield coach and continued in that role this season.
“While we haven’t had the results we’d like I’ve enjoyed my time at South and really topped off my understanding of the game the past two years,” said Hollands.
“There’s no doubting the Club is on the right track and now has a bunch of young dedicated players that will only improve with continued hard work.”
“I definitely would have continued my involvement but have a great opportunity with my work and it’s just been fortunate that the coaching role also came up at my former club.”
The South Adelaide Football Club thanks Ben for his contribution over the past two seasons and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.

A week in the life of Brad Crabb
Playing for South Adelaide football Club isn’t just showing up on game day and having a kick. A player must work hard all week to prepare physically and mentally for the match.
Aside from team training on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a Panther also has forty five minutes of weight training to balance out the cardio and skills training. Weight training is vital in building the strength to lay and break tackles, stand up in a pack and endure the demands a football match puts the players’ bodies. As a full back, Brad works on many different skills at training, especially working with the full forwards on one on one contests and contested marks.

SOUTHERN MAN MADE PROGRAM
Progressive Facilitator Report
Southern Man Made (SMM) is again an exciting program to be a part of. Also the achievements of the program in terms of its aims and objectives continue to be immense.
The launch of SMM was a great way to start or ‘kick off’ the program for 2010. A good time was had by all and the goodies received by the lads were a real highlight, as was dinner and bowling, it was a special night that set the tone for a strongly forming group.
With the program commencing its second year I found there was large interest from within various sections of our local community regarding the continuation of SMM. This indicated to me the impact of the program in 2009.
